September 25, 2019 - Marietta
Woohoo!! We’re actually doing this! Marilyn and I drove up to Ginger’s house in Marietta yesterday. (Okay, really Marilyn drove and I kibitzed!) We arrived just a few minutes before Ben and Elizabeth, so we had time to chat with them and when we finally got inside we were greeted by Andy!! I just love coming home!! Ginger was going to the airport to pick up Juan as we were on our last leg, so they arrived only about half an hour after us!
Much hugging and happiness and then it was time for dinner. Ginger hosted Rosh Hashanah dinner the night before and we were able to share the experience because there was plenty of leftovers! It was both Juan and Marilyn’s first experience with a Jewish holiday, so we did a lot of the ceremonial things, including blowing the shofar and saying some of the prayers. What a treat for everyone!
After dinner Ginger brought out our copies of her book about our trip to see the butterflies! As usual, she did a most marvelous job of capturing the experience and created the perfect souvenir.
We leave tomorrow afternoon for Cairo!! Everyone sorted out their sleeping arrangements and settled in for the night.
This morning we’re doing the final packing and planning. Marilyn learned how to work the Ninja coffee maker, which was a trick! Made me glad I’m having tea! We’ve decided that we should leave for the airport around 3:30 and Andy will drive us in the CRV.
If anything really exciting happens before we leave, I’ll add it here. In the mean time, here’s installment one!
Well we’re safely through security and at our gate in near-record time! It’s really happening! Here are a couple of pretties from Ginger’s yard and a shot of all the luggage for four people for nearly three weeks! (We’re good!)
What a wonderful gathering of friends and family.
